My dad also grew up in extreme poverty. When he was only a few years old, he and his twin would go outside and pick up empty plastic bottles to then sell, perhaps for a few cents. They didn't have money to buy paper to study and had to use the scraps left behind by the other kids and learn from reading newspapers found on the ground. His mom died when they were only ten years old so from the very start, he had to take care of his family while my grandpa was out working in the fields. He is now a professor in one of the top universities so wow.
